Irpinia is a historical and geographical region of southern Italy, now it falls within the province of Avellino. However, the region is not fully coincident with the entire province today: the first includes some areas belonging to the province of Benevento, and also do not form part of the territories of Baianese and Vallo di Lauro, who belonged to the ancient Earth Work until 1860, and those Caudina Valley.
